Expanding Wireless Broadband for Emergency Responders
How it Works
Filling in Holes in Coverage

The following movie shows the anticipated coverage area in and around the I-79 Tech Park for the 3-sector, 5.8GHz WiMAX base station in the Research Center tower.  Notice that there is an apparent hole in coverage toward the left side of the map indicated by the green, blue and gray areas.

The second image shows how a 24-foot mobile tower with a single-sector 5.8GHz base station can be deployed to "fill in" this hole in coverage. This type of coverage enhancement is needed when there is an emergency or event that requires, or could be greatly improved with, broadband access in an area that is not normally covered.
